• Abake-danuki, a mischievous Japanese raccoon dogykai, proudly leads the way, followed by a supernatural warrior known as atenguwielding a protective spear, and a bakeneko, a cat spirit, happily nibbling on a sweet treat in the shape of a fish known as taiyaki.
• The onibi, like will-o’-the-wisps, flare brilliantly in the darkness of the night.
• Watch out for the lanterns! Some are actually chchin-obake, distinguished by their mischievous eye and mouth.
